For those who have a blog or are thinking about starting one, it is important to know what a blogging niche is and its importance. Niche blogs may appeal to geographic areas, a specialty industry, ethnic or age groups, or any other particular group of people. The majority of niches are specific to a topic you are interested in, from food to fitness and travel.
The beauty of having your own blog is that you can write about anything you are truly passionate about. Today, we are discussing the benefits of a blogging niche and more insight on how to decide on one.

You Can Write About Your Passions
No matter if you want to write about slanted cemetery gravestones and headstones in a post about loss or the best foods for the digestive system in a health post, so be it. By having a blogging niche, you can write about anything you are really passionate about. As it’s your own site and space online, you do not need to hold back about what you love. You can write about anything at any time, so long as it does not offend anyone.
By knowing the specific topic you are writing about, you actually have more tools available to help get you out of an idea rut. Techniques to break writer’s block, like brainstorming or a headline storm, are easier when you have boundaries that define where you should operate. Instead of falling short and not knowing what to write about, you will feel inspired as it is something you know and love.
Makes You Stand Out
If you write about a totally unique topic or have unique blog post ideas, your post or site will stand out among the rest. It’s best not to go too broad with your topics. Not only can it confuse readers, but you will not have a specific audience or specialty. For example, if you write about just one topic and show off your expert knowledge or passion, readers will recognize your work and go to your site for that specific information.
If you’re aiming for an audience of “everyone”, you’re likely to end up with “no one”. Try to find a sub-niche that’s a great fit for you.
More Organic Engagement
When you blog for a certain niche, you can understand what your audience wants and write according to their needs. There are so many reasons to love blogging, with engagement being one of them. It is such a rewarding feeling having dedicated readers and people who tell you that they love your content.
A niche blog will give you an audience that you understand, and that understands you. They are less prone to churn and more likely to always come to your blog when they want to read up on a certain topic.
Make Monetization Easier
If you have decided you want to blog to earn income, having a niche blog will help.
If your blog is about everything, it is more difficult to sell ads. It’ll be hit and miss to guess what ads will actually be the most successful. You don’t know which topic makes your audience show up and read and therefore, you don’t know which ads will interest them. It’s also a hard sell to advertisers. They want to know what your blog is about.
It will be difficult to sell an ad or product if your blog is about a variety of things. A brand will more likely want to invest their money into those with organic readers and are unique.
The same can be said for ebooks, training, and other items that people use to make money through a blog. How will you choose a topic for an ebook, or training, and know that your readers will buy it if you’re not writing a niche blog? You have no idea what they’d spend money on or like to learn. All you know is that they are willing to come to your blog to hear your random thoughts on all kinds of topics for free.
