We all want to find the right pieces of makeup that fit our kit perfectly and help us build the arsenal that we can apply and get out there without having to think about it too much. However, simply put, there’s too much makeup out there. It can be super hard to pick out and find the stuff that’s right for you with all of the options abound, so how do you simplify and narrow it down? Here, we’re going to look at a few ways to keep choosing your makeup super simple.
Start with the foundation
First of all, everything is going to be a lot easier when you know the foundation that works best for you. The foundation is, after all, the first step to applying your makeup, and everything that you choose is going to fit that foundation. Choosing the right foundation isn’t just about finding one for the tone of your skin, you also want to look at your skin type and work out how much coverage you actually need, as some skin types might need less than others. Once you find a good foundation, stock up on it.
Know your color matches
Your natural palette is going to play a huge role in helping you narrow down which colors and shades you look at with your makeup. Often referred to as your color season, because most people tend to fit somewhere in Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter in their palette, this looks at your skin tone, eyes, hair, and undertones, and recommends colors that can go well with it, whether you want a more natural blending look, or you want to go bold with contrasts. You don’t have to stick to your color season recommendations, but it’s a perfect place to start.
Get a little help
Even with the tips above, there’s going to be no shortage of options to choose from. One of the easier ways to help navigate those options is with a touch of professional help. This is one of the reasons that finding an Avon representative near you can be such a good place to start. Working with someone who can actually make recommendations based on what you need, who can listen to what exactly you’re looking for, and who brings the knowledge to offer suitable matches is a lot easier than having to browse collection after collection by yourself.
Do more with less
Aside from building up the perfect roster of makeup tools to suit all of your needs, you should also look at how you can make better use of the makeup that you already have. In particular, you might want to look at the makeup hacks that can see you multitasking and getting more than one use out of as many products as you can. This can include using a little lipstick to enhance your blush, for instance.
With the tips above, hopefully, you shouldn’t have to put a ton of work into building your makeup arsenal. It can be a lot simpler, you just have to know the best options.

When I started out with using makeup, I started with the foundation too!! But it can be frustrating at first because certain pigments can make you look too orange or pale… But nothing a little bronzer can fix for the latter. I love that there is a palette for everything!! But YES!! The staff at makeup places can definitely be a big help!! Thanks for sharing!

Oh this is all such helpful advice and spot on! Foundation is key and really sets the tone. Don’t want to get that wrong.
