Hello, everyone,
We can all agree that this year, the summer is super hot and some of our makeup isn’t holding on (thank global warming!). But fret not! I may not have covered all the makeup bases, but I’m starting with the first one, and that is Patrick Starrr’s The Blur Makeup Magnet Primer.
As some of us know (or if you’re like me and live under a rock), Patrick Starrr is a well-known makeup artist. Anyway, let’s start reviewing what I personally believe is worth getting: the primer, especially for someone currently dealing with a never-ending heat wave on a tropical island. I put my makeup through never-ending trials to find something that can last at least 8 hours.
The primer doesn’t feel heavy; it’s lightweight. I personally use a fair amount, more like a pea size, and I wait a few seconds before applying my foundation and concealer.
Now, does it really last long?
As someone who is currently dealing with a lot of hot weather and running around my workplace where I may sweat, I can say yes, it does. It doesn’t crease much, but I always have my blotting papers handy for my usual T-zone. There’s very little shine on my forehead after spending over 8 hours with my makeup on.
PORES
Remember when we all used to rave about Benefit face primers? Yeah, me too, but I rarely used Benefit (only my mom; I wasn’t allowed to buy a lot of makeup back in the day). The Patrick Starrr primer does reduce the appearance of pores, but I noticed that if I dampen my beauty blender too much and use my Saie slip tint, it can create strange textures, which is just a no-go for me. However, with my NYX foundation, it goes on smoothly. I found a trick for using the primer with the Saie slip tint, but I can’t quite explain it—it just stays the way I like.
Any hacks or tricks?
Not really, unless you plan to wear your makeup for at least 12 hours; then, just go for powder and setting spray to keep it intact.
Is it worth it?
The price of the Patrick Starrr primer seems very fair. It’s not too pricey compared to some other primers, but it falls within the same range as the majority of them.
You can find them at Sephora.com for $34

Anything that keeps makeup settled well during hot, sweaty temperatures is win-win! I have not found a primer I like so far, so I will have to give this brand a try!

I’ve tried few of his products and the primer and his setting spray became one of my most essential makeup bag.
(The setting spray usually gets sold out at my local Sephora).
